Q50) Bhagat and Chandu start simultaneously from village X to village Y, with their respective speeds in the ratio of 3 2. After traveling onefourth of the total distance. Chandu triples his speed and travels for some more time. Following which, he again changes his speed and completes the rest of the journey. Bhagat, however maintains his initial speed throughout the journey. If both Bhagat and Chandu reach the village Y at the same time, and the time for which Chandu travel'ed at thrice his initial speed was onethird or his total time of travel, then find the ratio of the respective speeds with which Bhagat and Chandu reach the village Y.
a) 24 : 7
b) 18 : 7
c) 7 : 2
d) 3 : 1
e) 4 : 1

Let total distance be 360x
and speed be 3x and 2x
Time by B = 360x/3x = 120
so Total time by C has to be 120
Now first 1/4 = 360 * 1/4 = 90x
Now first distance 1/4 = 360*1/4 = 90 so time = 45
next , 1/3 of total time ie 120 so 40
time left 40+42 = 85 so 12085 = 35
and distance left =360x 90x 240x = 30x
so speed has to be 30x/35 = 6x/7
so final ratio
3x: 6x/7
or 7:2

Q51) A vendor sells 20 apples for a Rupee gaining there – by 50%. How many apples did he buy for a Rupee ?

Q52) Ram and Kanti working together can complete a job in 11^(13/16) days. Ram started working alone and quit the job after completing 1/3rd of it, and then Kanti completed the remaining work. They took 25 days to complete the work in this manner. How many days could Kanti have taken to complete the job working alone?

Total days=189/16 days
let total work =189
so work done in one days=16 unit
Let Ram's work in one day=a unit
Kanti's work in one day=(16a) unit
now work completed by Ram =189 * 1/3=63 unit
numbr of days =63/a
now remaining days=25((63/a))
((25a63)/a
work (16a) * (25a63)/a=126
so a=9
now Kanti's work=7
so kanti will take =189/7=27
