Question Bank - Logical Reasoning - Shashank Prabhu, CAT 100 Percentiler

• Q27) A closed bag contains 3 green hats and 2 red hats. Amar, Akbar, Anthony all close their eyes, take a hat, put it on, and close the bag. When they open their eyes, Amar looks at Akbar and Anthony, but can't deduce the color of his own hat. Akbar now tries to deduce his own hat's color but can't be certain. What color is Anthony's hat?

[OA: Green]

• Amar does not say anything and so, Akbar knows that either him and Anthony have both green or one green and one red between them. If Anthony had a red, Akbar would have known that he would be wearing green. But because he doesnt say anything, Anthony has to be wearing a green hat.

• OA: Ross, Monica & New York

• OA: Dr Salunke

Out of five statements only 3 are correct. So we need to find the contradicting statements first

Clearly Dr House and Dr Murali cannot be correct at the same time. Only of them is definitely wrong.
Dr Salunkhe and Dr Tancredi are saying the same thing. So if this is not correct then we have 3 statements which are not correct (We can have only 2 statements that are incorrect). So we know Dr Tancredi and Dr Salunkhe are correct.
So only one option left for the 2nd wrong statement which is from Dr Jekyll. So if Jekyll, who says Dr Salunkhe was innocent, is wrong then Dr Salunkhe is the one we are looking for.

• If B sees white hat on C, B would know that A got confused because A saw one black hat and one white hat and so, B has to have the black hat. This did not happen and so, C has to be wearing a black hat.
