    When writing or revising a text, look carefully at sentences that list words, phrases, or clauses. In these sentences, the words, phrases, or clauses listed must follow the same grammatical form. This is called parallel structure.

    To correct faulty parallelism, match nouns with nouns, verbs with verbs, and phrases or clauses with similarly constructed phrases or clauses.

    Tomorrow, I want to be shopping and eat lunch with Sarah.
    Parallel: Tomorrow, I want to shop and eat lunch with Sarah.

    She likes cooking, jogging, and to read.
    Parallel: She likes cooking, jogging, and reading.

    Reading is my favorite hobby even though to play baseball is America's.
    Parallel: Reading is my favorite hobby even though playing baseball is America's.

    Mr. Killinger admires people with integrity and who have character.
    Parallel: Mr. Killinger admires people with integrity and character.
    Parallel: Mr. Killinger admires people who have integrity and character.

    Your new training program was stimulating and a challenge.
    Parallel: Your new training program was stimulating and challenging.

    Physical and mental health and wellness rest on four pillars: regular exercise, healthy diet, social interaction, and getting sufficient sleep.
    Parallel: Physical and mental health rest on four pillars: regular exercise, healthy diet, social interaction, and sufficient sleep.
